Helena is currently completing her M.S. in Bioinformatics and Genomics at the University of Oregon, where she also received her B.S. in Biology from the Robert D Clark Honors College.
A passion for all things biology led Helena to spend her time on various adventures in science. She has collected native plants for Oregon seed banks, assessed patient outcomes after vascular surgery, and tracked genomic changes in evolving bacterial populations. She realized during her work with microbial populations that combining biology with computer science and statistics allowed her to work at the cutting edge of biology, which she is excited to continue to do here at Phylagen.
When she’s not coding in Python or testing out the latest data visualization package, you can find Helena exploring wild spaces where she is particularly skilled at spotting hummingbirds.
